The Centre offers\u00a0Ph.D.<\/strong> Programme in Folk Culture Studies.\u00a0The written test will consist of essay and objective type questions to ascertain the general aptitude and capability of the candidate for pursuing research in folk culture studies.<\/p>\n

Objectives of the Course<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To appreciate how people learn and internalize ones own culture, and on occasions challenge their own culture.<\/li>\n
  2. To understand how communities represent themselves to the others through their cultural idioms.<\/li>\n
  3. To gain knowledge of how expressive traditions play a role in communicating cultural constructs and community behavior.<\/li>\n
  4. To get insights into the worldview of the communities through the process of ethnographic research \u2013 interviewing people and analyzing their cultural behaviour.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
